Family Connection of South Carolina is a statewide nonprofit organization that provides parent-to-parent support for families of children with disabilities and special healthcare needs. Sun Printing begins yearlong program to recognize and reward S.C. nonprofits

COLUMBIA, S.C. – As many S.C. nonprofits struggle with declining operating budgets due to decreased funding and charitable giving, Sun Printing, a commercial, digital and grand format "green" printer in S.C., has created a Nonprofit of the Month program to recognize and reward S.C. nonprofit organizations.

Beginning July 1, and continuing each month through May 2012, Sun Printing will be accepting nominations via their Facebook page (www.facebook.com/SunPrintingInc) for S.C. 501(c)3 organizations to be named the Sun Printing Nonprofit of the Month. The organization with the most nominations each month will receive an award and a $500 cash donation. In June of 2012, the eleven winning Nonprofit of the Month organizations will compete for the Sun Printing Nonprofit of the Year award, with the winner receiving an additional $1,000 cash donation.

"Sun Printing has always been committed to giving back to our community. We felt that by creating this program we could not only draw attention to many S.C. nonprofits, but also reward organizations that continue to do great things for this state despite a decline in operating budgets due to recent decreases in donations," said Andy Cook, President and CEO of Sun Printing.

According to the Giving USA Foundation, although charitable giving saw a slight increase in 2010 (2.1% on an inflation adjusted basis over 2009), it would take five or six years of similar steady growth to be back to the peak of $326.57 billion in 2007. Sun Printing is hopeful that this program will not only provide monetary assistance to S.C. nonprofits, but also raise the public's awareness of these vital organizations.
